Van Nuys

VanNuysLA Law Library Law Collection, housed inside the Van Nuys Branch, in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library system, is available to assist litigants, visitors and legal professionals by providing access to a wide array of California practice guides, form books, and laws available both in print and electronically.

The Law Collection is located behind the library Reference desk. Computer terminals are available for legal research and can be reserved in advance online.  All computers are available for use free of charge with a Los Angeles Public Library system card. Material can be downloaded, emailed or printed.

A Librarian from LA Law Library will visit public library partner locations to offer assistance in finding information that will help answer legal questions, getting started on learning about the law or going to court.

Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fridays

Pasadena

PasadenaLA Law Library Law Collection, housed inside the Central Library, in partnership with the Pasadena Public Library system, is available to assist litigants, visitors and legal professionals by providing access to a wide array of California practice guides, form books, and laws available both in print and electronically.

Pasadena Public Library’s self-contained Law Room contains books, study tables and dedicated computers for legal research.

Computer terminals downstairs are also available for legal research. All computers are available for use free of charge with a Pasadena Public Library system card. Material can be downloaded, emailed or printed.

Free public classes on how to use Westlaw offered periodically.

Torrance

TorranceThe Torrance Branch of LA Law Library is available to assist litigants, visitors and legal professionals with legal research questions and have a wide array of California practice guides, form books, and laws available both in print and electronically.

Staff can assist those litigants with finding information on how to file motions, prepare court documents or learn about court procedures. Computer terminals are available free of charge. Material can be downloaded, emailed or printed.

Copier available  - 15 cents per page one-sided, 30 cents per page two-sided.

ComptonLA Law Library Law Collection, housed inside the Compton Public Library, in partnership with the County of Los Angeles Public Library system, is available to assist litigants, visitors and legal professionals by providing access to a “legal literacy” collection of materials to begin searching legal issues and gain familiarity with court procedures.

Computer terminals are available free of charge with a County of Los Angeles Public Library card. Material can be downloaded, emailed or printed.

Pomona Courthouse

PomonaeBranch Has Arrived!

Pomona Courthouse houses an eBranch self-service kiosk for litigants, visitors and legal professionals to access LA Law Library subscriptions and other helpful tools so they can get a head start on researching legal issues, fill out their own court forms, or learn about court procedures.

Databases available:

Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, CEB OnLaw, EBSCO Legal Information Reference Center (Nolo Press books), HeinOnline, LegalTrac. Electronic copies of sample pleading paper also available.

Access is free. Users can email documents to themselves or download onto flash drive.

LA Law Library staff available to assist in real time via chat technology. Onsite staff will be available occasionally for one-on-one assistance.
