The purpose of this presentation is to provide a brief overview of the law in California governing the use of the deposition subpoena for business records, and related required documents. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how to properly draft and serve this type of subpoena and thereby avoid delays such as objections from opposing counsel or records custodians.

- Associated custodian fees that can be charged for producing documents
- The definition of “Deposition Officer”
- Real-world experience dealing with records custodians versus what is laid out in the Code of Civil Procedure

Presenter Jim Ayer is the Vice-President of Titan Legal Services and has been in the subpoena industry since 1997. He was previously the Office Manager for Whitmont Legal Technologies’ Subpoena Division as well as the division’s Senior Account Executive. In 2008, Jim along with his partner Jack Cambe formed Titan Legal Services, Inc. Since that time, Jim has been sharing his considerable knowledge of the subpoena process through subpoena training classes for various legal professional organizations throughout California.
