The cause of action (or legal claim) is the framework of every part of civil litigation. If you understand a cause of action, you can more easily: Draft a complaint, Draft discovery, Prepare for trial.

Class covers:

  • What is a cause of action
  • How to find the elements of a cause of action
  • How to draft a complaint and a discovery plan based on a cause of action
  • Library resources for identifying the elements of a cause of action

What to bring to this class:
This class involves small group discussion and sample working projects. Please bring a pen or pencil and your reading glasses (if you need them).
