The Library is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees who set policy and appoint the Executive Director. The Board consists of five Superior Court judges appointed by the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County and two attorneys appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

Ms. Steinhauser has served on the Board of Trustees since 1997 and as its President since 2002. In addition to chairing Board Meetings, Ms. Steinhauser provides leadership on general library direction and guidance on monthly agenda items, Ms Steinhauser guided the library’s search for a new Director in 2005. She helped establish the original Library’s Friends group, managed the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the Library’s Main Building and it’s naming for Mildred L. Lillie, Justice, California Court of Appeals. She continues to serve as an essential link between the Friends of the LA Law Library and the Board of Trustees.
Ms. Steinhauser serves on the Library of California Board and chairs its Legislation Committee. She has a distinguished record of public service. She has served as President of the Los Angeles City Fire and Police Pension System Board. She is the founding Co-Chair and Past President of the Los Angeles Women’s Appointment Collaboration, a non-partisan coalition that supports women seeking appointed office. She has lectured widely on the appointment process. She is also a Charter Founder of the Los Angeles Women’s Foundation and an active member of Women Lawyers of Los Angeles. Ms. Steinhauser is a strong supporter of education and the arts.

Judge Bryant-Deason was elected to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1994. From 1987 to 1994, she was cross-designated as a special assistant U.S. attorney in the federal government’s major narcotics unit. She first joined the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office in 1980.
As a Superior Court judge, Bryant-Deason helped establish the court’s summer extern program. She also participates in the selection of law clerks for the court.

Judge Edmon was appointed to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2000. As a Superior Court judge, Edmon presided over a number of high profile family law cases before moving to criminal court. Prior to 2000, Edmon was a large-firm associate and partner, handling a wide range of cases including employment discrimination, contract dispute, and securities litigation.
In addition to serving as a library trustee, Judge Edmon is a member of the Board of Directors of the Constitutional Rights Foundation. She is a lecturer for Continuing Education of the Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.

Hon. Abraham Khan,

Judge Khan was elevated by unification to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2000. Previously, Khan was elected to the Los Angeles Municipal Court in 1994, and appointed to the Citrus Municipal Court in 1988. He served as an attorney in both the city and county judicial systems. As a deputy city attorney he specialized in housing law.
In addition to serving as a library trustee, Judge Khan serves on the executive board of the California Judges Association where he assists in developing the judicial studies and education program. He is a member of the Municipal Court Judges Association of Los Angeles County and the Mexican American Bar Association of Los Angeles.

Kenneth Klein, Esq.,

Mr. Klein joined the Los Angeles office of Hogan & Hartson in 1991. As a trial lawyer specializing in complex business litigation, Mr. Klein has served as lead counsel in a wide range of cases in both federal and state courts. Previously, he was a partner at Riordan & McKinzie, where he chaired its litigation department.
Mr. Klein writes frequently for the Los Angeles Daily Journal on litigation and trial techniques.

Judge Pluim was appointed to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1991. Prior to his appointment in 1991, Pluim served as principal deputy county counsel, specializing in litigation. He also acted as a legal advisor to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Retirement Association.
In addition to serving as a library trustee, Pluim is a member of the California Judges Association.

Judge Wiley was appointed to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2002. Prior to his appointment in 2002, Wiley maintained his own practice in Los Angeles. He also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, specializing in fraud and bank robbery cases. Wiley clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Lewis F. Powell Jr. from 1981 to 1982.
Judge Wiley remains a Visiting Professor of Law at UCLA, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1983. He participates regularly in seminars and workshops on intellectual property and antitrust law.
